Okay, I actually clicked on this link when I was looking at dog pictures on google, and got to this. Anybody seen The Siege? With The Denzel?

  2. He was good in 'Training Day'. I found the role of a corrupt police officer on the take particularly Oscar-worthy. Much better than Philadelphia...(*cough*"fuck the Academy)

  3. Wasn't too much of a stretch portraying a police officer as corrupt. All in a day's work, ya know?

  4. And RTB, I do appreciate you pointing out the intolerance that is Islam.

But lest we forget a few heads did roll during the Crusades way back when. Monkey see, monkey do........its just the Islam monkey's are a little late to the party thats all. Got some catching up to do.

  5. Haha, fucked up part was crusaders killed way more Christians than heathens, unfortunately.

  6. Also, the difference is most Christians have moved on in their beliefs from the 7th century, while Islam is rooted in beliefs/worldview that havent changed in 1300 years, i.e. cutting headz (Protect Ya Neck- O.D.B.=R.I.P., WORD IS BOND)

  7. You are probably right that the Crusaders killed more Christians than heathens. But the term Christian is a wide ranging label. Suffice it to say they were killing heathens. In their minds at the very least.

And the real difference is not that the Christians have moved on and Islam has not. Although that is true, more to the point is that the Muslims interpret their holy texts literally and the Christians do not (anymore). In that way Christianity has moved on. Although they do interpret the miracles and such literally they have at least realized they should not interpret the stonings and beatings etc etc that way. So in ways they have moved on, but in many ways they have not. Probably had something to do with the fact that it was difficult for them to reconcile the violence of early Christianity with Jesus' teachings. Kind of realized they were a wee bit hypocritical.

What it really boils down to is intelligent Americans and Europeans had enough of the bible thumpers and told them to chill out or else. They chilled b/c they realized if they did not chill they would end up six feet under. These were the times of T. Jefferson ala "the tree of liberty must be refreshed".

No one in the world of Islam has been this courageous b/c the fundamental Muslims have such a severe stranglehold on things. Although progress is being made in certain places in others that is not the case.

  8. Oddly enough, it's been U.S. foreign policy and desire for fossil fuels that has contributed to a uptick in fundamentalist Islam. You can compare populations of Iran and Iraq, both very tolerant Islamist cultures that have been demonized by the West to fit their political/economic agenda. While the autocrats of Saudi Arabia are free to practice some fucking crazy shit and we turn a blind eye, because petroleum tastes so good when it hits the lips.

  9. You goddamn right about that shit.

The Saudi's are our good friends. You seen Bush Jr. hugging and kissing and handshaking and everything with the Saudi royals ain't ya? Your goddamn right. Play friendly (play by our rules) you can do as you please, for the most part.

Don't play by our rules, then get ready for shock and awe and some coalition of the willing type shit.

As for the uptick in fundamentalism. Yeah probably. You right. Anyways you see it, go to war with someone and kill a bunch of their people and at the very least you are gonna have a handful of sworn enemies bent on revenge for some time. We got that. Chickens gonna come home to roost one day. I hope I am far far away from the urban centers when they do........

  12. It's an episode of Seinfeld where Kramer and Jerry switch apartments. Sort of a round about quote, though, because the part I was talking about comes at the end, when they pull the plug on Kenny Rogers' Roasters.
