Hybrids Suck
Original ad: if anyone wants a ride from baltimore to nyc tomorow let me know! i am driving up there sometime tomorow afternoon and would be glad to help someone out if they want to throw up some money for gas. i drive a hybrid, so i wont need much!

Hello,I do need a ride to New York tomorrow. That would be great. My only concern is the fact that you drive a hybrid car. I don't want to give people the idea that I care about the environment. Do you have another, more manly car that we could ride up in? I really don't want to be seen in a hybrid. I'll gladly compensate you for gas.Mike

all i have is my hybrid. what is the big deal, who cares what people think? u should be glad to help the enviroment!

From Mike Partlow to christine **********
I'm sorry Christine but it isn't the 60's anymore. People aren't a bunch of earth-saving hippies that run around and hug trees anymore. Does your car have tinted windows? I really don't want to be seen riding in that bitch-mobile. My only request is that you stop by a lake somewhere so I can dump a can of motor oil in it, to make up for all of the earth that your car will be saving. Don't worry, I'll pay for the motor oil.Mike

wtf is wrong with u! im not giving u a ride ur a jerk!!!

From Mike Partlow to christine **********
Well I am sorry you won't have the privilege of riding with me. Fortunately for me, I found a better, more badass ride to NYC. I'll be sure to wave at your crappy little hybrid as we pass you in our F-350, spraying cans of aerosol out the window and throwing empty six-pack holders into the sea. Mike

  2. haha. I actually support those who use hybrids. It brings down the demand for gas and leaves more for gearheads like me. To be honest though, if they could make a fuel efficient car that was cool, fast as hell and around $25K I would buy one. Lazy ass engineers haven't invented that yet so fuck 'em.

  3. PS I drive a Subaru WRX wagon that is fast and gets 25mpg, so I'm doing my part....sort of.

  4. "if they could make a fuel efficient car that was cool, fast as hell and around $25K I would buy one"

Yeah me too! I had no idea we had this in common. It's really rare to find a person willing to pay $25k for a cool, fast as hell, fuel efficient car.

You know what else? I would buy a steak from McDonalds for $2 if it tasted awesome, was big as fuck, had zero calories, made the hair on my head grow and the hair on my neck/cheeks stop growing and made my sweat smell like pine needles. Why don't they make that? Assholes.

  5. difference is with vehicles, there is a way to do it but the engineers have been so busy mastering cost efficiency and producing heartless moving appliances they have mastered the art of making bullshit like the H3 and the Ford Fusion and F150 and all that other bullshit that is useless but cheap to produce and midwestern morons buy it because they think its made in the USA even though they are made in Canada with parts from china and engines from europe and built by Mexicans and paid for by assholes like you and me who pay our shitty government to bail out shitty companies that grew "too big to fail" even though that has nothing to do with capitalism and defies monopoly limitations because lobbyists for the big 3 are busy sucking off officials and that my friend is some socialist bullshit.

  6. pps fuck toyota too. their entire business model is based on GM. Their biggest sellers are big trucks and SUVs and they sell a few corrollas and priuses to stay out of the negative press. And fuck Audi, BMW, and Mercedes, because they actually have the best talent to make this shit and they produce the same overpriced garbage that they always have when they could be moving the market forward with alternative fuel technology.

  7. Don't you work for a gas selling company? I love that you and I both rail endlessly against the cocksucking asshole that put the food on our tables. It's like that episode of the Simpsons where Homers hippie mom comes back and is upset he works at the Nuclear Power Plant and he's all "well I don't work that hard, actually I'm bringing the plant down from the inside" and he taps his nose twice...

  8. "Their biggest sellers are big trucks and SUVs and they sell a few corrollas and priuses to stay out of the negative press." Hmmm....seems easy enough to check.

2008 Toyota Sales by Model (Sales Rank Among All Vehicles in Parentheses):

    1. Camry: 436,617 (3)
    2. Corolla: 351,007 (5)
    3. Prius: 158,884
    4. Tacoma: 144,655
    5. Tundra: 137,249
    6. RAV4: 137,020
    7. Highlander & Highlander Hybrid: 104,661
    8. Yaris: 102,328

To summarize: Passenger car sales = 1,207,006. Truck (including RAV4) sales = 750,569.

Contrast that with Detroit, whose a top sellers were the F-Series, Silverado, Impala, and Ram.

  9. Thats my point almost half of what they sell... now look at the profits made from the fuel savers vs the full size luxury suvs and trucks. They make a shitload more on the gas guzzlers. Number of units only shows part of the picture. Plus, isnt it talking on either side of your mouth to say you are green by selling priuses and also sell tundra that gets less than 15mpg? PS I work for a power company and yes I do have to take extra long showers to wash the guilt off every night.

  11. from bloomberg:

Toyota earns between 100,000 yen ($1,042) to 200,000 yen ($2,084)in operating profit on the sale of one Prius or about 7 to 12 percent of the profit it makes on the sale of a Lexus LS sedan or Tundra pickup trucks in the U.S., according to an estimate by Credit Suisse Securities (Japan) Ltd.

I am not a math major my any stretch but I think that is a big difference ($17,000 for Full size lexus or tundra vs $1k to 2K for a prius.)

    Swwish!

  12. Well, usually the term "biggest sellers" refers to the merchandise that is sold the most. I would use the term "biggest money-makers" to refer to the products that earn the highest profit. So swish yourself.

But yeah, I do see your point - this is more in line with the reasons I had heard to be skeptical of Toyota. Oh, and reason #1095 that buying a truck is dumb as fuck... $14,000 profit on a single vehicle? That's some crazy dumb shit...

P.S. Links, man, links! I told you how to do that shit....

  13. yeah I am too lazy for that.... see post above
