GCOTD: Scar Shoulders

This conversation occurred this morning and incensed me. Not knowing/appreciating music is one thing, but one would think such ignorance would require one remove oneself from said debate. I'm not knocking Janis Joplin. I wish she was hotter, because she was probably an animal in the sack. That said, Jerry Garcia, along with the rest of the Grateful Dead, their crew, Ken Kesey, the Merry Pranksters the Wall of Sound, LSD, San Francisco did way more for music than Janis did. She was a lynx. But go ahead, shut yo mouth.

  1. Beach Boys with a gimmick.
I stand by my comments. Willingness to tour until you die is not a talent, in fact it is kind of desperate and pathetic and shows a lack of inner peace and a desire to be loved and seen by the masses that is pretty narcissistic if you ask me. SS is not impressed, he is no sheep.

  2. And I hate to pile on but all those people you named did dick for music and for our country. Our country is still totally fucked and Justin Beiber, Drake, and Maroon 5 are considered music. I hate to sound like The Big Lebowski but the revolution is over and the deadbeats lost. For better or for worse…

  3. Go back and read about Filmore in the 60s. Those whack ass "DJ"s you go and see all the time? Where do you think they got their light show? He's a musician and everyone in the Grateful Dead collaborated to take live music to a new place. And your boy Santana and the Allman Bros. and anyone else you want to throw in there, Pink Floyd, the Beatles, anyone, followed. Fuck you. Read a book or play an instrument before you ever address the topic of Jerry Garcia again. You don't have to dig it, but you HAVE to respect it. Boogers. Out.

  4. Having a little trouble following some of this, but I shall wade into this shit-storm any-ol-way...........

Our country is still totally fucked and Justin Beiber, Drake, and Maroon 5 are considered music.

Not sure you can blame that on the Dead and the music scene from the '60's? I bet most people from this time period and with these music tastes agree with you........

I hate to sound like The Big Lebowski but the revolution is over and the deadbeats lost.

Again, nothing to do with Boogers overall point. Just another reason the 1960's kicked so much fucking ass.

Hell, HST's famous line ("and with the right kind of eyes you can almost SEE the high water mark--that place where the wave finally broke and rolled back.") is the voice of a generation (many generations actually) all but admitting that the revolution is over and a longtime before the Big Leb (no disrespect to the Dude, don't get me wrong!) was produced at that......
